1. What Unmark does

Unmark is a Chrome browser extension that helps you delete your own comments on social media platforms including X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. All processing happens locally inside your browser tab. No data is transmitted to any external server operated by Unmark or its developer.

2. What data we collect

We collect nothing. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any account credentials
• We do not read, store, or transmit your comment content
• We do not track which platforms you use or how many comments you delete
• We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or any telemetry
• We do not use cookies or tracking pixels

3. What Unmark reads locally (and why)

To function, Unmark reads certain information from the web pages you visit — but only within your browser, only when you actively use the extension, and only on supported platforms:

• Your username — read silently from the page's DOM to identify which comments are yours. Never stored or sent anywhere.
• Comment text — read to display in the preview list before deletion. Never stored beyond your current browser session.
• Page URL — used to detect which platform you are on. Never stored or sent anywhere.

This data exists only in memory during your active session. When you close the browser tab or the extension popup, it is gone.

4. Local storage

Unmark uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to remember your preferences between sessions, specifically:

• Whether safe delay is enabled (on/off toggle)
• Whether dry run mode is enabled (on/off toggle)
• A running count of total comments deleted (for display only)

This data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted anywhere. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension.

5. Permissions explained

Unmark requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — to interact with the current tab when you click the extension icon
• scripting — to inject the automation script into supported social media pages
• storage — to save your toggle preferences locally
• tabs — to detect which platform you are currently on
• Host permissions (twitter.com, x.com, instagram.com, facebook.com, youtube.com, tiktok.com, myactivity.google.com) — to run the content script on these sites only

None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit data.

6. Third-party services

Unmark does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data services. The extension has no backend server, no database, and no API of its own.

When you use Unmark on a social media platform, you are subject to that platform's own terms of service and privacy policy. Unmark operates within your existing logged-in session and does not bypass any platform authentication.

7. Children's privacy

Unmark is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used this extension, please contact us.

8. Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Your rights

Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete on our end. If you wish to remove all locally stored preferences, simply uninstall the Unmark extension from Chrome.
